ANGLER OF THE YEAR

Warren Burrell

Angler of the Year 2004Warren has already clinched Angler of the Year with his second place finish at Long Pond in Lakeville. He has had an outstanding season where he could do no wrong. Warren has been in Cape Cod Bass for many years, and has had many great tournaments, but I think his win at Long Pond in Harwich this year stands out as one of his better bags. With a whopping 20.70 pounds, Warren humiliated the rest of us, beating second place by 7 pounds, it was a great day.

Second place in the club has also been clinched by Jeff Coats. Jeff had Warren nervous at every tournament (Jeff was AOY for 2003 beating Warren by 1100 points).

Congratulations to both of these guys, they fished a great season and deserve the recognition. (Even if Warren continues to give me grief because I kicked his ass at Winni)

January and February Meetings

Turn out was weak for February, which bring up the reminder for the January vote on attendance rules. New bylaw proposed and passed to get back to enforcing the need for members to attend EVERY meeting possible. The new Bylaw:
  1. Missing Meetings
If any active club member that misses three (3) consecutive club meetings, that member will face expulsion from Cape Cod Bass by a vote of the club officers help at a special meeting. If unable to attend and event or meeting, a call placed to a club officer is mandatory. If no call is placed to an officer in a reasonable time frame with a valid excuse for absence, the club member will be fined $5 plus have 500 points deducted from their total tournament points. Any protest for a unexcused missed meeting must be addressed no later then the following month's meeting by the member. Only a majority vote by club officers can revoke the fine and points deduction.

Club Banquet February 14 at the Buzzards Bay Eagles

The club banquet will be on Saturday, February 14 at 6pm. If you have food to warm up, show up a little earlier. Awards will be handed out to everyone who fished last season. It is a pot luck banquet so if you haven't signed up to bring anything contact Wayne Hyde or Mark Hickey to let them know what you will bring. (No more Zeady!)

Also, we will be holding raffles for tackle so bring your money! This benefits the 8 Man team greatly to cover the costs of the Fish offs.

Meals coming for the Banquet:

Frank L: Italian Meatballs & Peppers
Wayne: Buffalo Chicken
Bob D: Lasagna
Lonny: Pork Tenderloin
Courtney: Steak Tips
Bob T: Whatever She Makes
Jimmy Z: Lasagna 2 Baked Ziti
Gary L: Chili
Joe Q: Meatballs
Frank M: Baked Ham
Bill F: Chips / Salsa & Paper Plates
Bob I: Chili
Eric: Pasta Salad

Other Eagle Business

The Eagle's disagreed with our understanding of the contract we have for holding meetings in their hall. We were led to beleive the banquet was included in the price and they didn't think that was the case. After a lot of bickering over this, the Eagles agreed to only charge us for the Bar Tender ($25) and let it go for this year. I'm sure next year's contract will be a little different, and a little more expensive.

If any members have alternative sites in mind where we could hold meetings and a banquet, please feel free to make a motion by June's meeting before our contract needs to be renewed.

New Raffle Coming for an Aqua View System

Bob Iodice motioned for a raffle to be held for a Aqua View system. Every member will have 4 or more tickets they HAVE TO sell to raise money for the 8 Man team. Motioned passed.

Attendance Problems

To all who missed the meeting without excuses, you will be needed at the next meeting to pay your fine and / or pleed your case. This is a club, not an open trail. The courtesy of a phone call is all that is required.

Warren Motioned to hold Jim Zarella accountable for his absence and have him fined accordingly. Super Bowl Party is not an excuse Jim.

Needed information!
If anyone has new addresses or phone numbers, please contact me ASAP with them so I can make sure we have the latest information.
