Raymond P. Lentine

Hi Guys,
Enclosed, or attached, you will find a letter. It is a letter that I am asking you to duplicate, along with this cover letter, and give a copy to all of the members in your club.

I know that I am a pain in the butt when it comes to MassBass. I am not a masochist. If you have a history with me, you remember when I was the humor of MassBass. If you listen to my radio show, you will hear me laugh vith ease – and I approach everything with humor first. There is nothing funny about MassBass anymore.

I wish there was something positive I can say about anything MassBass does, but I can’t. We qualify state teams in smallmouth water – and send the winners to largemouth water. We have a Team Tournament Trail that is the darling of 10% of the federation, and hasn’t taught any of us anything.. We have sent one person to The Classic in 30+ years. Nobody knows hardly anyone: How many of the fed members can name last years boater and non boater champions? Can you name Last Year’s State Champion?

When Mike Yellick died, there were only three people in my club who knew his name – and only 1 that actually knew him. The greatest fisherman that had ever wet a line in Massachusetts – and most of the people within the federation didn’t know who he was. That fact is a product of who we are. That fact is disgraceful.

CHANGE is not a dirty word. Change is something that must happen to all people and all organizations. MassBass has been going in the wrong direction, and someone has been leading us there. The devotion to the position of leadership, especially within MassBass, takes a great deal of sacrifice. But, a great leader does not make a good leader. There have been many leaders, and you can name them, that have lead their countries, business, and organizations down a road of disaster. All of those leaders have done so under the guise of “IT IS WHAT THEY WANT.”

It is your job, if you are a member of this family, to say, “Enough is enough.”
